Journeys new and journeys ended;
Things left undone, tears left unmended.
A new cloth cut and fingers nimble
But unprotected, minus thimble.
A new seam started, the old rejected,
Plans are made and thoughts collected.
To the scrap heap mistakes of old
And now anew will life unfold.
Perhaps one day the scraps will joined be
To make a quilt of history
And aged, I will wrap me in
The memories of aged sin
And people past and things neglected,
But, in that reverie I'll be protected
From the anger, grief and shame;
From the heartache and the blame.
So til that day when sting be blunted
Garments new shall be constructed.
Patternless I stitch and pray
This fabric's strong and will not fray
Or rip or shred or tear apart.
All this sewing breaks my heart.

Fantabulous
Milkshakes and eggshells,
Picasso in the mirror
Filled with molasses
And wintergreen dreams.
Unicorns and whores
Dancing a tango;
Satyrs in tap shoes
Making musical themes.
Stuck under the rainbow
The vultures eat bluebirds.
Heartless and fattening,
Their cookie and creams.
Her finger is shining.
My hands are still empty,
But my eyes are brighter
With salt water streams.
Picasso in the mirror
Filled with molasses
And wintergreen dreams.
Unicorns and whores
Dancing a tango;
Satyrs in tap shoes
Making musical themes.
Stuck under the rainbow
The vultures eat bluebirds.
Heartless and fattening,
Their cookie and creams.
Her finger is shining.
My hands are still empty,
But my eyes are brighter
With salt water streams.
