gone

she would cling
to her mother's leg
for safety, shy child

she would cling
to her notebooks
on her way to class

she would cling
to her friends

turn to months
to demonstrate
enduring thanks
for every moment
of every day
that you arranged
if I thought
the outcome
in any way

her very nakedness a cloak
as she bares her delicate soul
of purity perpetually in bloom
surrounded by unceasing night
