The sun shines down on shanty town
Light broken smiles and shadow dreams
Peeled paint and cracked skin
Wait for rain, wait for wind
Wait for change
oppressive heat
opressive weight
depressing wait
hate of home
and envy
and ache
sun-scorched skies
government lies
no job
no joy
but the toothy grin
of a child
playing in the red dirt
with a stick
and ignorance
