my gaze / luminous and illuminating
lit by your taper I blazed
dazzled by your beauty / amazed
that you claimed the same
eyes perpetually affixed
to the beacon in yours
burning back at me
signal fires flashing
unspoken conversation
until your fire untended
dwindled and died
while kindling I added
and now I burn alone
